Presently, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Memon is serving as Chairman, Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education, Hyderabad Sindh. He also served as officiating Chairman, Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education, Mirpurkhas and Shaheed Benazirabad. He is Chairman National Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (NACTE), Higher Education Islamabad.
He served as Hamid al-Din al-Kirmani Professor at the Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED), Karachi for more than a decade. He was the first national Director, AKU-IED, Karachi for more than eight years. He started his career as a teacher at Sindh Madressah-tul-Islam, Karachi (Alma Mater of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Founder of Pakistan) in 1970.
After serving the national institution for more than 13 years, in 1980 he joined as an Assistant Director, Planning and Monitoring, Education & Literacy Department, Government of Sindh, Karachi. In 1983, Prof. Dr. Memon joined the Government College of Education, F.B. Area, Karachi, as Lecturer (Education) and then he proceeded to pursue his higher studies aboard and earned his Ph. D (Curriculum Studies) from University of Surrey, England. He attended several intensive courses including course on managing professional development and project management at University of Sussex, England and University of Philippines, Manila respectively. He has been a member of several high-powered committees/task forces on education in Pakistan. He is a member of number of Board Governors of several educational institutions and a member of Senate of Universities, Board of Studies and Selection Boards of Universities of public and private sector. He is a member of several Editorial Boards of educational journals and his scholarly work is published in the national and international journals. Recognizing his scholarly contribution to the educational development in the country, various educational institutions have honoured him with awards. In 2015, Prof. Dr Memon was given an award of 'Excellence in Education' by the Aga Khan University, Karachi.
