Dr. Al-Karim Datoo

Dr. Al-Karim Datoo is a sociologist of education and an educational ethnographer. He holds PhD in Sociology of Education from McGill University, Canada, and an MSc in Educational Research Methodology from the University of Oxford, UK. His PhD thesis was nominated by the Department of Integrated Studies in Education, McGill, for Distinguished Thesis Awards (Canada). He is a co-editor of a book titled: Globalization, Culture and Education in South Asia: Critical excursions, Palgrave: USA.
Dr. Datoo has conducted field research in Canada, UK, East Africa, Central and South Asia. He has taught at various universities including UCL-Institute of Education (UK), Aga Khan Universitys Institute of Studies of Muslim Civilization (UK), Aga Khan University-Institute of Educational Development (AKU-IED) in Pakistan. In addition has worked with UNICEF (Pakistan), Aga Khan Academies in Kenya and Mozambique, Aga Khan Education Services and Aga Khan Trust for Culture.
His teaching and research interests include themes: globalisation, education and youth development, ethnographic method, educational policy sociology, local knowledge and development, value-education and inter-cultural education.
Dr. Datoo has recently joined as an Assistant Professor at Department of Education, Sukkur IBA University.
